The St. Charles Park District Board of Commissioners, staff and neighbors gathered on October 4 for the grand opening of the newest park site in the Anthem Heights subdivision, located at the corner of Woodward and Cardinal Drives. The celebration included a ribbon cutting ceremony and complimentary Culvers frozen custard.
The Park District strives to ensure that new residential developments have dedicated park space to provide open space for residents to recreate.
Holly Cabel, Director of Parks and Recreation said, “As St. Charles continues to grow with the addition of Anthem Heights, we are delighted to bring this new park to the community.”
Residents were involved in the planning of this park by providing input at community meetings and voting online for your most liked park amenities. This input resulted in the beautiful park amenities on site. The park features swings for all abilities, challenging climbing apparatuses, a picnic shelter, playground with interactive play features, bench seating, a half basketball court, permanent baggo games, paved pathways and open space with native tree plantings and interpretive signage.
“It’s always rewarding when residents get involved and excited about their neighborhood park,” said Laura Rudow, Superintendent of Parks and Planning.
Cabel added, “Our partnership with you is a testament to the Park District involving residents in park projects. We hope that this neighborhood park allows you to play, connect, and enjoy.”
