Have you heard of the nationally-trending ‘park prescription’ programs?
Doctors are prescribing a dose of nature and a walk in the park to better one’s health. Walking can help maintain a healthy weight, strengthen your bones and muscles, increase your flexibility, and lower your blood pressure/cholesterol, to name a few. Walking also eases stress, helps you sleep better and can improve your mental well-being. All you need is a good pair of walking shoes. Always consult your physician before beginning any exercise program. For a trail map: click here

History
In March 1999, the District purchased seven additional acres from Ed Regole to contribute to a new sports complex on the east side of town. On June 1, 2002, the District hosted the grand opening of this park site in cooperation with the St. Charles Boys’ Baseball Association and the Girls’ & Women’s Softball Association. The public was invited to celebrate with a hot dog picnic, visits from four retired baseball legends — Bob Miller, Paul Popovich, Jimmy Piersall and Terry Donahue, and some friendly baseball/softball games. This park site was made possible by the assistance of grant funds from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, an Illinois FIRST grant and the Kane County Board.
